Social cohesion and solidarity are more than abstract values – they are the foundation of resilient, stable, and inclusive societies. In times of crisis and uncertainty, they become the driving force that enables communities not only to recover, but to grow stronger and more connected.
This is the spirit behind the ENHANCE Project – Empowering Girls and Young Women Across Europe and the MENA Region, which brings together seven organisations from EU and non-EU countries to tackle gender inequality and discrimination through innovative non-formal education approaches and capacity-building for NGO operators.
In this second newsletter, we share key highlights from recent project activities, showcasing how partners are transforming learning into concrete community action.
Camp 2 in Tiznit, Morocco – Social Cohesion and Solidarity in Action
Held in Tiznit from 20 to 26 October 2025, the second ENHANCE Camp equipped partner managers and community leaders from Italy, Cyprus, North Macedonia, Morocco, Egypt, and Jordan with practical tools for working in and managing multicultural teams.
The five-day training focused on innovative outreach methodologies, action-oriented approaches, and tools to promote community building and solidarity. Sessions covered themes such as local cooperative societies, social innovation, rural education, and restorative justice, with a strong emphasis on peaceful conflict resolution and dialogue as cornerstones of cohesive societies.

Replication Camps in Jordan and Egypt
A core principle of ENHANCE is learning together and passing knowledge on to local communities. Following the Morocco camp, partners successfully organised replication camps in Jordan and Egypt.
Jordan – Al-Balawnah Association: A restorative justice camp held in the Deir Allah District engaged 30 young adults (aged 20–45), focusing on gender democracy, youth leadership, empathy, and dialogue. Participants strengthened communication and mediation skills while exploring how restorative justice can support community cohesion and youth-led peacebuilding.
Jordan – Al-Awn Association: After participating in the international training, the organisation replicated the programme locally in Irbid Bani Kinanah and Sama Al Rowsan, reaching 23 community members through highly interactive, practice-oriented sessions on SWOT analysis, conflict resolution, intervention development, and community cohesion.
These experiences confirm the transferability and effectiveness of the ENHANCE capacity-building model across different contexts.

What’s Next?
In the coming months, partners will continue sharing materials and knowledge with local stakeholders and teams, while preparing new camps and further replications in Jordan. The journey of learning, adapting, and growing together continues.

Strengthening Social Cohesion to Empower Girls and Young Women
In a world increasingly shaped by social, economic and humanitarian challenges, social cohesion and solidarity are more important than ever. They are not only ethical values, but essential foundations for resilience, stability and inclusive development. This is the vision at the heart of ENHANCE – Empowering Girls and Young Women Across Europe and the MENA Region, an international project bringing together seven organisations from Europe and beyond to tackle gender inequality and discrimination
A Community-Led Response to Gender Inequality
ENHANCE unites partners from Cyprus, Italy and North Macedonia, alongside organisations from Jordan, Morocco and Egypt, with a shared goal: to strengthen the capacity of NGOs and community actors to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes that limit the participation of girls and young women.
Through innovative, up-to-date non-formal education methods and practical resources, the project supports professionals working at grassroots level to foster lasting, systemic change within their communities. At its core lies a simple but powerful idea: real inclusion can only be achieved with the full support and active involvement of the community
Why Social Cohesion Matters
Social cohesion plays a crucial role in ensuring that societies can respond effectively to crises and adapt to change. Cohesive communities are better equipped to recover from disasters, promote social stability and create opportunities that are shared more fairly among all citizens.
As highlighted in the ENHANCE project, social cohesion is not merely a moral aspiration; it is a cornerstone of political and economic stability. When communities are united by trust, mutual respect and solidarity, they are more likely to achieve sustainable and equitable development, ensuring that no one is left behind.
Camp 2 in Tiznit: From Theory to Practice
These principles came to life during Camp 2 on Social Cohesion and Solidarity, held in Tiznit, Morocco, from 20 to 26 October 2025. Organised by ATIG, the five-day training brought together partner managers and local community leaders from across Europe and the MENA region to explore practical tools for working in and managing multicultural environments
Participants engaged with innovative outreach methodologies and action-focused approaches aimed at strengthening community bonds. Topics included cooperative societies, community-based development, support for rural education and the role of social innovation in addressing inequality.
A key contribution came from RJ4All, which introduced participants to restorative justice principles as a peaceful and inclusive way to manage and resolve conflict. Through dialogue and shared responsibility, restorative approaches help build stronger, more cohesive societies where every voice matters
What’s Next for ENHANCE?
The impact of Camp 2 will extend well beyond Tiznit. In the coming months, project partners will share the knowledge and materials developed during the training with local stakeholders through seminars and workshops. These activities will help multiply the project’s impact, embedding the values of social cohesion, solidarity and gender equality at community level
The next workshop will be hosted by the Al Balawnah Association in January, marking another important step in the project’s journey towards empowering girls and young women across regions.
